You know those days you have SO MUCH on your schedule that you if you don’t do that devotional first thing in the morning, you don’t open your Bible at all? We like to call it 5-minute devotional days.
J’s Confession: For the better part of a season, I had been a five-minute devotional kinda girl. I stuck to the studies I knew weren’t going to take me longer than seven minutes a day because (honestly) I just didn’t want to get up in the morning and I would much rather sit around + do absolutely nothing after a long day at work! I knew my attitude + my heart would be so much better off if I would have just gotten up early + opened up my bible, but the struggle is oh so real!
Here’s the honest to goodness truth: Sometimes there are seasons where you’re that five-minute devotional girl because you’ve put way too much on your plate (like we all end being at one point or another). Sometimes it’s because you just want to sleep (because who doesn’t?!). And we want you to know that that is 100% okay- as long as we don’t stay there long.
In order to lead with the way we live, we need to be relentlessly pursuing after Jesus for more than just five minutes a day.
But it’s because Jesus knows that we’re busy hustling, working, schooling, basically #allthethings! – He’s also given us some pretty amazing resources for those moments where five minutes a day is all we can handle (until we get our priorities all straightened out of course!). So here’s J’s roundup on some of her favorite devotionals from the season she went through (click on the titles to buy them)!:

2. SAVOR by Shauna Niequist
